Beth Holgate worked as a journalist and documentary filmmaker for 20 years. She made films in Bangladesh, South Africa, the former Yugoslavia and the UK before moving from London in 2002 to live and work in the south west of France. She began painting and pottery at an early age and kept it up when she could. She has been contributing cover art to the London Review of Books since 2012.

From October 2026, the Royal Academy shop will stock an exclusive range of mugs and jugs commissioned for the exhibition ‘Painting the Riviera’.

Beth Holgate a travaillé comme journaliste et réalisatrice pendant 20 ans. Elle a tourné des documentaires au Bangladesh, en Afrique du Sud, en Bosnie et au Royaume Uni. En 2002 elle a quitté Londres pour vivre et travailler dans le sud-ouest de la France. Elle a commencé jeune la peinture et la poterie et elle a continué à pratiquer ses passions dès qu’elle le pouvait avant d’en faire son metier depuis 2023. A partir de 2012, la London Review of Books a adopté nombre de ses peintures en couverture.

À partir d’octobre 2026, le magasin de l’Académie Royale à Londres présente une gamme exclusive de céramiques inspirée par l’exposition ‘Painting the Riviera’.
