Beth Holgate worked as a journalist and documentary filmmaker for 20 years. She made films in Bangladesh, South Africa, the former Yugoslavia and the UK before moving from London in 2002 to live and work in the south west of France. She began painting and pottery at an early age and kept it up when she could. She has been contributing cover art to the London Review of Books since 2012.
